Forbes: Toyota is the most valuable car brand of 2016

Toyota has managed to secure the top rank in the prestigious Forbes list of most valuable car brands in 2016. Toyota was at number 6 in this overall list and the only automaker in the top-10 overall list of most valuable brands of the year.

Other automotive brands on the list were BMW (14), Mercedes-Benz (20), Honda (23), Ford (35), Audi (36), Chevrolet (59), Lexus (63), Porsche (67), Nissan (70), Hyundai (71), and Volkswagen (77). It is interesting to note here that except Chevrolet, Hyundai and Ford, all other brands are either Japanese or German. Moreover, Toyota and VW group cumulatively control more than half of the listed brands.

Additionally, heavy equipment manufacturers like Caterpillar and John Deere too managed to secure a spot in the top 100 list, at rank 66 and 88 respectively.

The first three spots of the overall most valuable brand in the world were occupied by the tech-giant trinity of Apple, Google and Microsoft.
