Fiat Tipo hatchback spied

Fiat revealed the Aegea/Egea sedan which has been christened the Tipo in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, except for Turkey where it will be called the Egea. The car has now been spotted in its hatchback avatar with the debut expected at the Geneva motor show next year.

The design language will be very similar to that of the Tipo sedan, with the front end expected to look almost exactly the same. At the rear, the Tipo hatch will feature a different set of tail lights, a rear wiper and a roof integrated spoiler can be expected as well. The interior layout will be shared with the Tipo sedan as will the engine options.

Engine options for the Tipo/Egea sedan include two Multijet II turbodiesel and two petrol units, with manual or automatic transmission options. These engines come with power ratings of between 94 and 118 BHP. Fiat claims that the diesel engines are capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of over 25 km/l.

It remains to be seen if/when the Tipo and Tipo hatchback are launched in India. As it stands, the current Linea may stay on in India for another year or two, before being replaced. The primary change required will be the right hand drive calibration for markets like India, the UK and Australia.
