Fiat Punto Adventure spied in India

Italian auto maker, Fiat appears to be gearing up to introduce the cross variant of the Punto in India in the near future. The Punto Adventure, as the car is likely to be called, has been spotted testing near the company’s factory on the outskirts of Pune. This is arguably the first time the car has been seen in India.

Pictures clicked by a reader on the motoring website, Anything on Wheels suggest that the Adventure will look similar to the Punto except for the tailgate. The bulge on the cladding suggests that Fiat has relocated the car’s spare wheel on the tailgate. There is likely to be a new rear bumper and a swing-arm to support the spare wheel. The Adventure is expected to be powered by Fiat’s 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, MultiJet diesel engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. Plastic cladding and roof rails that have been seen in similar vehicles from VW (Polo Cross) and Skoda (Fabia Scout) have been left out.

Fiat is likely to display the Punto Adventure at the 2014 Auto Expo.
