EV charging stations: A BHPian created online repository for road trips

I thought all EV BHPians can make repository of chargers on frequented routes which can alleviate range and charging anxiety.

BHPian ferrarirules recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

"Range anxiety", "Where will I charge my car on a trip?", "Is the charger reliable?", "What if the one I planned is not working?", "Will I get good food at my charging stop?" are the questions you will hear from an new EV owner or prospective EV owner. So I thought all EV BHPians can make repository of chargers on frequented routes which can alleviate range and charging anxiety.

For example, I frequently go from Faridabad to Chandigarh or Faridabad to Sirsa. I know places which have reliable charger and have good eating places and washrooms.

I will recommend using a Template -

Starting City -

End City -

Vehicle -

Battery Capacity -

Range on Highway -

Charger Details

Charging Point Provider (CPO) -
Charger Capacity -
Number of Guns -
Charger Location -
Eatery options -

Alternate Charger Details

Public Charging options in Destination city -

If there is no public charger, Hotel which allows EV charging at destination -

Remarks -

Answering some of the questions I think may arise:

1. What if a new charger gets added or existing charger gets removed on a route?

I know the repository is not fool proof as chargers keep on getting added or removed on the routes. But people can keep on adding route updates if they see a better charging option or they see a charger listed is not working as reliably

2. All EVs will not need to use the same charger?

Agreed. That is why I have mentioned the Car and its highway range in the template

3. We already have a thread for chargers?

Yes, we have thread for sharing our charger experiences but this thread is more about charger guide for EV users on frequented routes across India.

4. We already have Plugshare and other apps for route planning?

Yes, but this thread will confirm the trustworthiness of charger, the quality of eating joints at this charger.

Some General Info -

1. Plugshare is community based app where charger locations are added and reviewed by EV owners. The location of charger may be a bit wrong sometimes as it is user updated. It is better to use charging point operators app to find the exact location.

2. Tata IRA.EV, eHUb by MG and Statiq are charging aggregator apps which show availability status of multiple chargers in one app. Statiq allows payment for all chargers listed on their app.

3. Trip planning can be done via any of the above mentioned apps

Here's what BHPian shankar.balan had to say on the matter:

Now, in the spirit of this thread. I have an EV and my main drives are Bangalore - Ooty, Bangalore -Coorg, Bangalore - Madras and Bangalore - Coimbatore.

I've only driven mine to Ooty and back so far and here is my small contribution.

1. Mysore Swad Restaurant at the end of the Expressway has a JioBP charger which has not been working since it was installed.

2. For people on this route the only viable option is the Shell recharge on the Mysore Nanjangud stretch. It would be absolutely prudent to top up the charge here because of the ‘juice drinking’ climb up ahead when ascending the hills by whichever route. Next to this charger is a small restaurant called Ruchi Mane which offers reasonable food.

3. Ooty offers a first class Tata Power charger at Taj Savoy and a Zeon charger at Monarch Hotel. I'm not sure of other chargers there.

But again I say, this thread is going to become very cumbersome to maintain and therefore will tend to fall into disuse.
