In January, Ducati had announced that it will launch 12 new motorcycles in India in 2021. Among the bikes slated for launch is the Hypermotard 950 RVE. Now, the company has unveiled the updated version of the bike which complies with the Euro 5 (BS6) emission norms.
The bike is available in three variants - Hypermotard 950, Hypermotard 950 RVE and Hypermotard SP. All variants are powered by a 937cc, V-twin engine that produces 112 BHP @ 9,000 rpm and 96 Nm @ 7,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission which the company claims to have revised, making it easier to engage neutral when the bike is stationary. Stopping power comes from two 320 mm disc brakes at the front and a single 245 mm diameter disc brake with a Brembo caliper at the rear.
The bike is built on a steel trellis frame with variable-section tubes that weighs one kilo less than the previous model. The Hypermotard 950 is equipped with a Marzocchi fork with adjustable 45 mm aluminium tubes and stanchions, offering 170 mm wheel travel. At the rear, it gets an adjustable Sachs shock absorber with 150 mm wheel travel. The Hypermotard 950 SP comes with an adjustable 48 mm Ohlins fork with 185 mm wheel travel at the front and an adjustable Ohlins shock absorber with 175 mm wheel travel at the rear.
The Hypermotard 950 comes with features such as multiple riding modes, Bosch cornering ABS, traction control EVO, wheelie control EVO, power modes, daytime running light, tapered aluminium handlebars, removable passenger footpegs and a USB power socket. The RVE variant gets the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down EVO, while the SP comes with Marchesini forged wheels and a carbon fibre front mudguard and timing belt cover.
The Hypermotard 950 RVE and SP variants get a flat seat. The SP also gets a new paint job derived from Ducati’s MotoGP racers. The Hypermotard 950 and RVE have a dry weight of 178 kg, while the SP weighs 176 kg.
The Hypermotard 950 RVE is expected to be launched during the latter part of 2021.
