Design sketches of the India-spec 3rd-gen Hyundai i20 out

The third-generation model is expected to be launched on October 28, 2020.

Hyundai has revealed the first design sketches of the India-spec i20. The third-generation model is expected to be launched on October 28, 2020.

The front end of the new i20 borrows design cues from the Verna facelift. The car has a glossy black grille with an H badge in the centre and triangular fog lamp pods. At the rear, the new i20 gets tail lights with Z-shaped brake lights and a chrome strip running between the clusters.

On the inside, the new i20 gets a dual-tone dashboard and fluorescent green trim. The centre console houses a floating touchscreen infotainment. The sketch also reveals a 4-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The i20 is expected to get three engine options. These include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which will be paired to a manual transmission and an IVT, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to an iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine paired to a manual transmission. These are the same engines and transmissions that are available in the Venue sub-4 meter crossover.
