Datsun redi-GO launched in India at Rs. 2.39 lakh

Datsun has finally announced prices of the redi-GO entry-level hatchback, which starts at Rs. 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The redi-GO will be available in five variants, with the top-end costing Rs. 3.34 lakh. This pricing makes the redi-GO cheaper than the Renault Kwid by Rs. 23,000 for the base variant and Rs. 33,000 for the top-end trim.

The Datsun redi-GO is based on the CMF-A platform developed under the Renault-Nissan alliance. This is the same platform that underpins its chief rival, the Renault Kwid. The redi-GO also uses the same engine as that of the Kwid, which is a 799 cc, inline three-cylinder DOHC petrol engine that develops 53 BHP @ 5678 rpm and a peak torque of 72 Nm @ 4386 rpm. It is mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox.

Datsun India has recognized the fact that the A-segment is a price-sensitive market. As a result, the company has claimed a 32% lower maintenance cost for the redi-GO as compared to the current market leader (read Alto). Moreover, the redi-GO comes with an unlimited kilometer warranty for first two years along with free Road Side Assistance (RSA), while a 3-year extended warranty is also on offer. Datsun has further partnered with MyTVS to provide road side assistance and mobile service vans to owners of the redi-GO.

Braking duties are carried out by ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is not offered on any trim of the redi-GO. The top-end redi-GO S variant gets features like LED daytime running lights, front power windows, power steering, music system with radio/CD/USB/AUX input and a driver side airbag.

The company has also provided 50+ accessories to let customers customize the redi-GO.

Variant-wise prices of the Datsun redi-GO (ex-showroom, Delhi) are:
• Datsun redi-GO D – Rs. 2,38,900
• Datsun redi-GO A – Rs. 2,82,649
• Datsun redi-GO T – Rs. 3,09,149
