Citroen C5 Aircross EV spied testing for the first time

Citroen will sell the upcoming C5 Aircross EV alongside its ICE-powered version.

Citroen recently revamped its entry-level C3 model lineup for the international market. The French carmaker now seems to have shifted its focus towards its larger and flagship SUV, the C5 Aircross.

Citroen has been working on the next-generation iteration of the C5 Aircross, which is expected to make its global debut sometime next year. Ahead of its arrival though, the first spy images of what seem to be the pure-electric version of the next-gen C5 Aircross has been spotted undergoing testing.

As per reports, although the test mule seems to be wearing the same body as the current SUV, it has a new architecture underneath. Also, the battery pack can be seen jutting out between the front and rear axles, while the rear misses out on an exhaust system. This indicates the upcoming e-C5 Aircross is undergoing its early stages of powertrain testing.

The upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross electric is expected to be underpinned by the STLA medium platform from Stellantis. The final iteration will feature a revamped design, although it could retain some of its upright looks. Reports also state that Citroen could introduce a 3-row version of the C5 Aircross as well.

Citroen will sell the upcoming C5 Aircross EV alongside its ICE-powered version. While the carmaker is yet to confirm the details of the electric powertrain, reports suggest it could come with a 400V architecture with an 86 kWh battery pack. The C5 Aircross EV will get both single and dual motor options, while having an expected WLTP range of 500 km on a single charge.
