Earlier this month, former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn was re-arrested over new charges of financial misconduct. According to a tweet by the 65-year old, he was going to have a press conference on April 11, 2019. He has now released a video statement that was recorded prior to his arrest.

Ghosn has accused certain Nissan executives of playing a 'dirty game' to get rid of him as the Japanese carmaker’s chairman. While in the original video, he had named the executives, the former chairman's defence team removed the names from the released video over legal risks.

Nissan conducted an extraordinary board meeting two days ago, to oust Ghosn from the company board after 19 years. In the video, Ghosn described Nissan's performance as mediocre while pointing out to its declining share price.

In November 2018, Ghosn was arrested over charges of financial misconduct. He was kept in custody and re-arrested on new charges a month later. Last month, the Tokyo District Court set the bail amount for his release at US$ 9 million.
