Booked a 2023 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 test bike: Was it the right call

The dealership was offering a flat discount of Rs 2 lakh on the on-road price of the motorcycle.

Would like to update my experience with a Triumph dealer in Pune.

I visited a Triumph dealer in Pune last week as I was looking to upgrade to a Trident 660. The dealership said that all of the bikes are out of stock, but they have a Trident Tiger Sport 660 test bike available for sale. The dealership was offering a flat discount of 2 lacs on the On-road price. (11.42 lacs OTR). They offered me a test ride of the test bike. The bike felt very smooth to ride, suspension was plush, brakes were nice and power delivery was excellent. Ride and handling was similar to a new bike.

Further, I inspected the bike thoroughly and it looked perfect. Tyres were in great condition, headlights and tail-lights looked fine, fairing and engine area did not show any scratches or bruises. The salesperson said test bikes are maintained by the service team and already serviced once.

The ODO reading showed 6723 kms clocked. I confirmed the manufacturing date of the bike, it was Oct 2023 manufactured. Checked the VIN number. The salesperson said the bike is still unregistered, and I will be the 1st Owner if I buy it. The Insurance and warranty period will be applicable from the date of registration as per the dealer.

Before the delivery, the dealer agreed to completely service the bike, examine the brake pads and chain sprockets. They will ensure ceramic coating is done too before handover. Overall, it looked like a tempting deal.

Left the showroom and kept thinking over a few days whether I could go ahead with the purchase or drop the idea. The bike has been more than a year (around 14 months) with the dealership and the ODO reading seemed pretty alright considering the tenure.

Then, I visited the showroom today again to check out the best discounts that the dealership can offer. To my surprise, I could negotiate further by 42k (almost took 1 hour for this) and the final on-road price they agreed was 9 lacs.

After a lot of thinking, calculations and discussions with my better half, finally booked the bike by paying 50k booking amount.

I am now skeptical whether I made the right decision, mainly since the manufacturing date is in Oct 2023 and the registration date will be March 2025 (Big gap which can impact the sale of the bike in the future).

Here are some close-up pics of the bike:
