BMW R 18 Classic launched at Rs. 24 lakh

The R 18 Classic comes with shaft drive and even has an optional reverse gear.

BMW Motorrad has launched the R 18 Classic 'First Edition' cruiser bike in India. It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and is priced at Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom).

The BMW R 18 Classic is based on double cradle frame. It has a teardrop shaped fuel tank with double pinstripes and an exposed driveshaft reminiscent of the boxer from 1936. The bike features a circular instrument cluster and LED headlights with sickle shaped LED daytime running lights.

The R 18 Classic is powered by a 1,802cc, air-cooled, 2-cylinder boxer engine that produces 90 BHP @ 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft drive. A reverse gear is available as an option. The bike has three riding modes - Rain, Roll and Rock.

The bike rides on 16-inch spoke wheels. The brake setup consists of twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake with 4-piston fixed callipers at the rear.

The standard features offered on the R 18 Classic include traction control, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, Keyless Ride system, ABS and cruise control.
