BMW M5 facelift launched in India at Rs. 1.35 crore

German luxury carmaker BMW has launched the M5 facelift in India.The car is BMW's rival for the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG sedan.

The M5's exteriors feature large air intakes at the front, M wing mirrors, kidney grille with an M5 badge, adaptive LED headlights, revised LED tail lamps and new 7-spoke alloy wheels. The car is available in eight body colours - Alpine White (non-metallic), Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Monte Carlo Blue, Sakhir Orange, Silverstone, Singapore Grey and Space Grey (metallic).

On the inside, the car is quite similar to the outgoing model. It comes with Leather Merino upholstery is available as standard. There is a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and the iDrive system. The interiors now feature additional storage space under the arm rest in the centre console and some chrome around the control display of the iDrive operating system.

The new BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre, turbocharged, V8 petrol enginethat produces 552 bhp @ 6000-7000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque @ 1500-5750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed M dual clutch transmission, which can be operated using paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel. BMW claims that the car can do a 0-100 kph sprint in 4.3 seconds.

Safety features and driver aids include air bags, Active M Differential, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic mode, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Active Protection with Attentiveness Assistant and Active Headrests (front).

The M5 is brought to India through the CBU route. It is priced at Rs. 1,35,40,000 (ex-showroom, all India).
