Bajaj to explore hydrogen 2-wheelers under Chetak brand

Bajaj is also gearing up to launch its first CNG-powered motorcycle in June this year.

Bajaj Auto is exploring the possibility of hydrogen-powered 2-wheelers under its Chetak brand. If everything goes to plan, Bajaj could become the first Indian brand to introduce a hydrogen engine in the market.

Bajaj recently appointed Abraham Joseph as Managing Director of its electric vehicle subsidiary – Chetak Technology Ltd (CTL). In a statement announcing the leadership changes, the company said, “CTL will explore the potential of hydrogen vehicles, further expanding Bajaj Auto’s ability to deliver technologically differentiated products.”

Speaking of alternate power sources, Bajaj is gearing up to launch its first CNG-powered motorcycle in June this year. It will be aimed at mileage-conscious customers.

Bajaj’s upcoming CNG-powered bike is rumoured to be powered by a 110cc engine. It is likely to be manufactured at the Aurangabad and Pant Nagar facilities.
