Audi RS6 Avant India launch on June 4, 2015

India hasn’t been a market that's taken kindly to station wagons. We’ve seen launches at the lower end, but it now looks like Audi will be the first premium player to not only offer a station wagon, but a performance spec model at that. As per a recent report, Audi will be launching RS6 Avant in India on June 4th, 2015.

Audi currently offers the A6 petrol with a 2.0L TFSI engine that makes 177 BHP, while the S6 is powered by a 4.0L, V8 TFSI engine that makes just over 414 BHP. Both models are offered only as sedans, while the RS6 Avant is a station wagon.

It is powered by a 4.0L V8 TFSI mill that generates 552 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h comes up in a claimed 3.9 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Opting for the Dynamic Package increases the top whack to 280 km/h, while the Dynamic Package Plus raises this limit to nearly 305 km/h. Transmission duties are carried out by an 8-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox.

Prices for the RS6 Avant will hover above the Rs. 1 crore mark.
