Audi Q4 SUV confirmed, to be unveiled in 2019

Audi has confirmed the introduction of a new model in its SUV line-up. Called the Audi Q4, this car is scheduled to make its global debut in 2019.

The Q4 is expected to be a five-seater and will essentially be Audi's answer to the BMW X2, the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Range Rover Evoque. It will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. Reports suggest that the Q4 is expected to borrow design cues from the Audi TT Offroad concept that was showcased at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.

On the inside, the Q4 is likely to be equipped with a host of technologies that are currently being developed by the Volkswagen group for the new-generation models based on the MQB platform. Some features that are expected in the Q4 include a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, gesture controls, wireless charging, a full-HD digital instrument cluster and various new connectivity platforms.

Powertrain options expected with the Audi Q4 include new-generation 1.5-litre petrol & diesel units and updated versions of Audi's current 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder power plants. The range-topping model is also expected to get a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain.
