717 BHP Aston Martin DBX S unveiled

The 0 to 100 kph timing remains unchanged at 3.3 seconds, but the 0 to 200 kph time has come down by 0.3 seconds.

Aston Martin has unveiled the DBX S, an updated version of its super SUV. The carmaker calls it the most powerful SUV in the world that uses only an internal combustion engine.

So what are the changes? For starters, the 4.0-litre bi-turbo AMG V8 gets bigger turbos from the Valhalla supercar. The engine now puts out 717 BHP and 900 Nm of torque, which is 20 BHP more than the DBX 707. The 0 to 100 kph timing remains unchanged at 3.3 seconds, but the 0 to 200 kph time has come down by 0.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 311 kph. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Also, there are five drive models on offer; GT, Sport, Sport+, Terrain and Individual. The DBX also gets a new exhaust system. Aston has added a 4 percent quicker steering rack as well.

On the exterior, the DBX gets a new black honeycomb grille along with a front splitter and diffuser. Also seen are carbon air winglets around the LED DRLs.  There is prominent ‘S’ badging on the front fender, the ORVMs get 3D cameras and there are new side skirts too.  It has 23-inch magnesium alloy wheels and a single-weave carbon roof. This has helped reduce the weight of the SUV by 47 kg. At the rear, the DBX S gets quad-stacked exhausts with tips that can be specified in matt or gloss finish. The bumper is restyled and gets an integrated diffuser.

On the interior, the DBX S gets a bespoke ‘S’ theme. There is Alcantara used in the cabin with performance Herringbone perforation stitching. Other features include a touchscreen with Pure Black technology, a 1600W Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 23 speakers, a wireless smartphone charger and ‘S’ branded tread plates.

The Aston Martin DBX S faces competition from rivals like the Ferrari Purosangue and the Lamborghini Urus SE.
