650 BHP Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre unveiled

The Black Badge Spectre also features Spirited Mode, which allows the driver to experience a burst of intense, instantaneous acceleration.

Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Black Badge Spectre, the most powerful Rolls-Royce in history. It is also the car maker's first electric Black Badge model.

The Black Badge Spectre features dual electric motors that have been upgraded to produce 650 BHP and 1,075 Nm of torque. The standard Spectre produces 577 BHP and 900 Nm torque.

All that horsepower can be unleashed by activating the Infinity mode by pressing a button on the steering wheel. This mode is a tribute to the Infinity symbol used to signify a Black Badge Rolls-Royce. Once the mode is activated, the dials on the instrument cluster become more vibrant to match the change in the car's character.

The Black Badge Spectre also features Spirited Mode, which allows the driver to experience a burst of intense, instantaneous acceleration. Spirited Mode is essentially Launch Control in Rolls-Royce lingo. It is activated by depressing the brake and the throttle pedal at the same time when the car is stationary. Once the car signals that it is ready, the torque is temporarily boosted to 1,075 Nm. This enables the car to sprint from 0 to 96 kph in just 4.1 seconds.

The Black Badge Spectre makes its global debut in a new Vapour Violet paint finish. It features a painted Iced Black bonnet as an option. Customers can choose from a palette of 44,000 ‘prêt-à-porter’ colours or opt for a Bespoke colour. It gets new 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminium wheels.

Other Black Badge-specific details include the signature dark finish for the Pantheon Grille surround, Spirit of Ecstasy, the double ‘R’ Badge, as well as the door handles, expansive side window surround and bumper accents.

Inside the Black Badge Spectre, you get a customisable illuminated grille and treadplates. The fascia comprises over 5,500 ‘stars’ of varying proportions and intensity, set in a Piano Black ‘sky’. The car's instrument dials can be curated with a choice of five colour themes: Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet and Synth Wave.

The Black Badge Infinity symbol is incorporated in the car, stitched into the leather ‘Waterfall’ section, which separates the rear seats. It also features a technical fibre trim with a black Bolivar wood base,  a diamond-shaped weave of carbon and a fine metal thread.

There is no word on an India launch yet, but considering that other Black Badge models have been introduced in the Indian market, this one will most likely come in as well.
