54.2% of Suzuki's volumes come from Maruti

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki has doubled its share in Suzuki's production volumes in the past decade. In 2018, Suzuki's Indian arm contributed 54.2% compared to 27-28% at the end of 2008. Also, about 34% of Suzuki's consolidated revenues in FY2018 came from India.

Suzuki Motor Corporation's total volumes increased from 2.62 million to 3.43 million units in the last 10 years. Production volumes in Japan dropped from 1.21 million to 1.01 million. On the other hand, the Indian market continued to grow and as a result, production increased from 7.50 lakh in 2008 to 1.86 million at the end of 2018.

According to the report, it is estimated that Maruti could contribute 64% of Suzuki's global production volumes by 2023. India is likely to remain one of the largest markets for Suzuki.
