3 weeks with my Maruti Jimny AT: 9 quick observations after 1,650 km

Overall a very happy experience thus far. Lovely little car with amazing capabilities.

BHPian Ashish_B recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Sharing my experience of first 3 weeks of my Jimny Alpha AT ownership. Have driven approx 1650 kms (including 1000 km outstation tour).

  • City commute in Delhi I am getting FE of 8-9 while outstation trip I managed 11-11.5 kmpl (90-120 kmph speeds with full load).
  • Adequate (not plush) space for 4 large-size adults. We didn’t feel cramped.
  • Have installed some accessories like Armrest, rear rack, bottle holders, bonnet struts which have added to utility and comfort.
  • Can accommodate 3-4 bags in trunk (we plan to install roof carrier before next outstation trip).
  • We didn’t find any lack of power, just need to understand the power-band and remain in 2500+ RPM range, it zips.
  • In city driving conditions I drive in OD Off mode (as per valuable recommendation from this forum), thus the car doesn’t feel sluggish and feels peppy as 3rd becomes the top gear and it doesn’t keep shifting between 3rd and 4th.
  • Suspension is bouncy (on highway speeds) and car feels like a boat. Planning suspension upgrade to tunable struts with OEM springs. No lift needed. Should run planted after that. Looking for options.
  • Steering is lazy, needs sharpening. Exploring upgrade options.
  • GAN GA+ is next performance upgrade that I may consider. Planning to test the same sometime next week.

Overall a very happy experience thus far. Lovely little car with amazing capabilities. All in my family share the same feedback. Cheers.
