2022 KTM RC 8C track-only superbike unveiled

The 2022 KTM RC 8C will be limited to just 100 units worldwide.

KTM has unveiled the 2022 RC 8C superbike. The RC 8C will be a track-only motorcycle with just 100 units available worldwide. Pre-bookings for the bike will start from July 22, 2021.

The new KTM RC 8C is expected to borrow its engine from the Duke 890 R. This engine is an 899cc LC8c parallel-twin DOHC unit producing 128 BHP and 101 Nm. The motorcycle has a dry weight of just 140 kg, which means it has a near 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.

The motorcycle also uses a custom, hand-built steel tubular frame, inspired by the KTM RC16. Its fairing is made up of Kevlar-reinforced GRP, similar to its MotoGP race bikes. The track-only superbike also comes with carbon winglets on the front for additional high-speed stability.

The KTM RC 8C features an airbox with a bifurcated intake. It is located where the fuel tank would be in a normal motorcycle. The 16-litre fuel tank itself has been moved under the seat.

The RC 8C comes with an WP Apex Pro upside-down fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear with fully-adjustability, including compression and rebound settings. Braking is handled by a MotoGP-derived Brembo system. Riders can choose between three braking modes - Normal, Sport and Race. The bike rides on a pair of Dymag wheels shod with Pirelli's SC1 racing slicks.

Other features on offer include adjustable ride-height, footrests, handlebars and a 2 mm variance in the fork set. The motorcycle also comes with a 5-inch TFT-LCD display that allows riders to log engine performance, ECU settings and lap timings. The display also offers information such as speed, position on track, lap times, throttle positions and much more.

25 exclusive customers of the RC 8C can opt for a chance to ride at the Jerez Circuit in Spain with Dani Pedrosa and Mika Kallio in one-off customer event.
