2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class spotted testing in India

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been spotted testing in India. The new E-Class was globally revealed earlier this year, and is expected to be launched in India early next year.

The updated E-Class adopts the company's new Sensual Purity design philosophy, as seen on the latest C-Class and S-Class. It retains the longer bonnet, coupe-like profile and short front and rear overhangs of the model it replaces. The new E-Class is longer by 43 mm, while its wheelbase has been stretched by 66 mm. The front bumper has been restructured to house two air intakes. It also gets updated swept-back headlamps and a pair of single piece tail lamps with a two-bar design.

On the inside, the updated E-Class sedan borrows some design cues from its elder sibling - the S-Class. The cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive control buttons, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a touchpad for the infotainment system with handwriting recognition, voice control, circular AC vents, ambient lighting with 64 colours and a Burmester 3D audio system with 23 speakers.

The India-spec model will likely be powered by 2.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by Mercedes's new 9-speed automatic transmission.
