2017 Force Gurkha launched at Rs. 8.38 lakh

Force Motors has quietly updated the Gurkha, which has been launched at prices starting from Rs. 8.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated model is available in two variants: Xplorer (three-door) and Xpedition (five-door). The 2017 Gurkha gets some cosmetic as well as mechanical changes. It is also now compliant with BS-IV emission norms and will thus be on sale even in Tier-I cities.

Force has made some minor cosmetic changes on the 2017 Gurkha. These include a new steel bumper with fog lamps, new front grille and revised taillights. The overall design language is identical to the previous model. It comes with all-terrain tyres as standard. On the inside, the updated Gurkha gets a new steering wheel, new gear lever and a manual air conditioning system.

The Xplorer three-door variant can be opted with either a soft-top or a hard-top with three seating options: 4 + driver, 5 + driver and 7 + driver. On the other hand, the Xpedition five-door variant is available only with a hard top in two seating configurations: 6 + driver and 8 + driver.

The 2017 Gurkha is built on a new C-in-C ladder-frame chassis. It gets independent struts with gas-charged shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar at the front, while the rear gets a new multi-link setup that is also equipped with gas-charged hydraulic shocks and an anti-roll bar.

Powering the new Gurkha is a 2.6-litre, common rail diesel engine that develops 84 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 230 Nm of torque @ 1,400-2,400 rpm. It gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drive system with low range and differential locks at both front and rear axles.

Prices (ex-showroom, Delhi)

• Xplorer (3-door) - Rs. 8,38,152

• Xpedition (5-door) - Rs. 9,35,625
