In addition to a hatchback version, the new Civic could also come in a sportier Type-R avatar.

Honda has released a short teaser of the eleventh generation Civic ahead of its debut scheduled for November 17, 2020.

The teaser partially reveals the car's front and rear fascia. While the front looks like an evolution of previous model, the rear fascia has been completely redesigned. The C-shaped tail lamps have been replaced with a more conventional design with L-shaped LEDs. The boot lid has an integrated lip spoiler and oval exhaust tips.

The new Civic is expected to be offered in a hatchback body style as well. A sportier Type-R variant could also be on cards.

In India, the current generation Civic is offered with a 1.8-litre petrol engine producing 139 BHP and 174 Nm paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a 1.6-litre diesel engine producing 118 BHP and 300 Nm. The diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Honda hasn't revealed the powertrain options that will be offered in the new Civic.
