Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) will be organizing track days where enthusiasts will be able to rent a purpose-built race car or bike. The track days will be held at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) at Irungattukottai near Chennai. 20 such track days will be held in a year, the first of which was scheduled to be held on October 29.
Enthusiasts will be able to rent out a race-prepped bike (Honda CBR150) for a 10-lap session by paying a sum of Rs. 1,000-1,500 or can try a race car for Rs. 7,500-9,000. MMSC will reportedly provide Volkswagen Polo Cup cars in addition to single-seater Formula LGB 1300cc machines to participants. Those looking to drive the race cars will need to have a valid driving license or a valid competition license issued by an authorized motorsport body.
According to Vicky Chandhok, former President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the aim of this is to let amateurs and individuals experience motorsports, while encouraging budding racers.
