Which ICE scooter for a biker - Suzuki Access, TVS Jupiter or others?

I am 5.10 ft tall. Need a machine for to suit a comfortable riding position. Contemplating Aprilia also for ABS, but with my low usage not sure should I spend that much money.

BHPian sram recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hi All,

I am in the market for scooter. I have ridden almost only bikes in the past 20 years. My cumulative ride on scooter will not be more than some 20km. Since we got a 4 wheeler for office and other family rides, the 2 wheeler usage came down to nearly 4-5 kms per day. Mainly for running shopping and other local errands.

My current bike is yamaha FZ-S, which started giving lot of problems, So decided to shift to a Scooter.

My Requirements are:

  1. I am 5.10 ft tall. Need a machine for to suit a comfortable riding position.
  2. Smooth and reliable machine.
  3. Good ride Quality.
  4. Safe ride (Scared of skidding under hard braking, as my 20km ride on scooter had 2 instances of it).
  5. Brand is not a problem.

After reading some threads currently considering:

  • Access 125,
  • Jupiter 125 and
  • Burgman.

Took test ride of Access and Jupiter today, couldn't ride long as the showroom guys gave a scooter without number plate which was ready for delivery.

In the short ride taken felt comfortable with access, particularly felt some discomfort on shoulder blade while riding Jupyter due to ride position. But after seeing a couple of comparison videos where they claim Jupiter is long and broad seat which will suit for tall people got confused.

Contemplating Aprilia also for ABS, but with my low usage not sure should I spend that much money.

Here's what BHPian Axe77 had to say in the matter:

I think for someone coming mostly from motorbikes at least for me it’s stability that is the biggest difference due to the small wheel size of most scooters. Perhaps try to shortlist some scooters with 14” wheel options. Off hand I think that would be the Aprilia SXR 160, but I’m not sure.

The Burgman is supposed to be quite a plush and steady solid vehicle too. Should certainly keep that as a serious contender. Really little to go wrong with the Burgman.

Meanwhile BHpian ashkamath replied the following:

I suggest you take a look at Yamaha Aerox 155. I own an Yamaha Aerox and it's a maxi scooter and somewhere between a motorcycle and the regular gearless scooters. The tyre size is in between the M/C and Scooters. It comes with a liquid cooled engine that powers the Yamaha R15, detuned a bit, but adequate enough to have lots of fun.

Extremely stable with Motorcycle like riding characteristics (you can lean, brake hard, ride hard and the Aerox obliges without any complaint).

I have a Honda Activa, a KTM Duke 390, a Honda Dio, a TVS scooty apart from the Yamaha Aerox and the Aerox is a class above the regular gearless scooters

Do check it out.
