A few days back, Volvo launched the XC40 in India. The compact premium SUV is offered in a single R-Design trim. However, the carmaker is planning to launch the entry-level Momentum and top-spec Inscription variants as early as next month. It has also been reported that dealerships have started taking bookings for the Momentum variant.

On the exterior, the Inscription variant gets a different grille compared to the R-Design trim and Inscription moulding on the C-pillar. It has LED headlights and a set of front fog lights. On the inside, the Inscription variant comes with Drift wood decor trim, crystal gear knob and metal tread plates with the Inscription badge. The feature list is identical to the R-Design variant and comes with a leather clad remote key and remote tag.

The Momentum variant misses out on features like the Harman/Kardon audio system, wireless charging, power tail gate, adaptive cruise control, park assist pilot with park assist, heated seats with power foldable rear headrests and remote tag. All three variants get a set of 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels in different designs.

Under the skin, the XC40 Inscription has a Four-C chassis. The R-Design model gets a Sports chassis, while the Momentum variant is based on the Dynamic chassis.

All three variants share the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 187 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a Haldex all-wheel-drive system. There are 5 driving modes - Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual.

Safety features like airbags, front collision mitigation support, Lane Keeping Aid, rear view camera, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system and rain sensing wipers are standard across all variants.
