Volkswagen Virtus unveiled in India; pre-bookings open

The Virtus competes with the Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Volkswagen has revealed the Virtus mid-size sedan for India. Pre-bookings are now open.

The Volkswagen Virtus is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which it shares with the Skoda Slavia. The car measures 4,561 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width, 1,507 mm in height, and its wheelbase is 2,651 mm. It comes with a 521-litre boot.

The exterior styling of the Virtus is distinct and typical VW with clean and crisp lines. The car gets LED headlamps and 16-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Inside, the Virtus comes with a contemporary dashboard. It features a touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speakers as standard across the range. The car also gets a digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control with touch-sensitive controls.

The Virtus is available in two trims - Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The former is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 113 BHP and 175 Nm, while the Performance Line packs a 1.5-litre TSI engine that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.

The Virtus replaces the Vento in VW's product range. It competes with the Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
