Volkswagen Virtus sedan spotted in India

This LHD version of the Virtus could be a test mule for components.

The Volkswagen Virtus sedan has been spotted testing in India.

The left-hand driver version of the Virtus seen in the spy image could be a test mule for components. It is unlikely to be launched in India.

The Virtus is based on the MQB platform. It is slightly longer than the Vento and has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. The styling of the car is inspired by the sixth-generation Polo hatchback. In fact, the interior has been borrowed from the Polo as well.

In the international market, the Virtus is offered with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 128 BHP and 250 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. The former is paired with a 6-speed automatic, while the latter gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen also offers a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Virtus.
