Volkswagen Taigun GT's clutch pedal stuck suddenly on the highway

I picked the manual over the DSG to have a peace of mind. But at the moment, no gearbox from VW 2.0 cars is foolproof.

BHPian Petronius recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

My Taigun GT manual’s clutch pedal got stuck halfway and wouldn’t return to its normal position.

Update on this issue. After this episode, one day the clutch pedal got fully stuck. This happened on a highway with traffic on either side of the road. Luckily I was able to use the momentum and slowly pull over to the left by hand-signalling to the bus driver on the left lane. He understood something was wrong and let me switch lanes. After sometime, I was able to pull back the pedal and drove back home cautiously.

Took it to service centre the next day and showed them the video. They said they need to take a longish test drive and record a video on their own when it happens and send it to VW. Fortunately, when the warranty technician came to inspect the stationary car, the clutch pedal went all the way in, I made sure I got the stuck pedal and him on the camera He acknowledged the issue to his supervisor and took the car in without committing any timeline. I spoke to the customer care head of that dealership and made her realize it was indeed a serious issue and could have taken a different end on an another day especially given it was on a busy highway. As usual, it didn’t bother her one bit. Asked her about the timeline for resolution, she said it was in the hands of VW now and sent me away without even giving me a heads-up on the due process. I took it to social media, and VW customer care reached out to me and looped the dealer in an email. Things started to take a different course after this. The customer head of the dealership rang me up and politely asked me to take the post down and that she will resolve the issue as early as possible. I didn’t agree to take down the post. She said she will update on the progress daily (Which she didn’t). After following everyday for a week, they informed, Master cylinder, Slave cylinder and Cone clutch are to be replaced and the parts have arrived. Once again I was reminded to take down the post to which I politely refused.

According to them, I should get my car next week. I will update here once they give my car back.
