Volkswagen recalls 1 lakh plug-in hybrid cars globally

There have already been 16 cases reported in Germany, forcing the VW Group to announce the recall.

The Volkswagen Group has announced a recall of over 1 lakh plug-in hybrid models globally over a potential fire risk.

The recall affects multiple brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat. As per reports, the German automaker has recalled over 42,000 units of VW models, including the Golf, Passat, Tiguan and Arteon. 24,000 vehicles from Audi along with an unspecified number from Skoda and Seat models have also been recalled.

Reports suggest that the risk of fire is due to the inadequate fastening of the engine design cover, which can lead to it coming in contact with hot components and thus catching on fire. There have already been 16 cases reported in Germany, forcing the VW Group to announce the recall.
