Volkswagen Arteon unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

Volkswagen has unveiled the Arteon sedan at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It is the company's new flagship product and is expected to compete against the likes of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Volkswagen designers have given the Arteon a fastback styling. It is a five-seat, five-door sedan, which is based on the company's MQB modular platform. The Arteon measures 4,862 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width and has a height of 1,428 mm. The wheelbase spans over 2,842 mm. The overall design of the car is inspired from the Super Coupe Concept GTE, which was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The front fascia of the VW Arteon is characterized by a long bonnet, a wide grille and standard LED headlights with Daytime Running Lights. The side profile shows the car's fastback-style sloping roofline, a prominent character line that runs from the headlights to the tail lamps and 10-spoke blacked out alloy wheels. The rear gets wraparound LED taillights, a subtle bootlid mounted spoiler and dual exhausts integrated into the bumper.

The Arteon is expected to go on sale in Germany around mid-June this year. It will come with six turbocharged direct injection engine options across the globe. These 4-cylinder petrol or diesel engines will be available with 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. The power outputs of the petrol engines range from 148 BHP to 276 BHP and that of the diesel engines are from 148 BHP to 236 BHP. The most powerful petrol and diesel trims will come with Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
