Video: Next-gen VW Polo teased ahead of global premiere

Volkswagen has released a teaser video of the next-gen Polo hatchback, which is expected to be globally unveiled in the near future. The video showcases all previous generations of the Polo, along with a silhouette of the new-gen model at the end.

The 2017 Volkswagen Polo has already been spotted on camera without any camouflage, thus revealing all major design changes made to its exteriors. Built on the MQB A0 platform, the new Polo will adorn VW's latest design philosophy. This will result in slimmer headlights & front grille, a prominent character line running on the side, a steeply raked C-pillar and a new pair tail lights that have been placed at the extreme corners on each side of the tailgate.

This model will mark the introduction of the sixth-generation of Polo. It is expected to come with increased length and width that will help in liberating more cabin space, while the height will likely be lowered to give the car a squatter stance. However, the car will likely be around 90 kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the light weight high strength construction of the MQB platform.

Internationally, the sixth-gen VW Polo is expected to be offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol from the new Golf and a new 1.6-litre diesel unit. Transmission options on offer will likely include 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
