Vespa Elegante unveiled in India

Piaggio has unveiled the Vespa Elegante scooter in India. Based on the Vespa VX, the Elegante is a limited edition model, which will hit showrooms on September 20, 2014.

The Vespa Elegante will be available in two new metallic colours - Marrone Crete Senesi  (clay brown) and Bianco Perla (pearl white). The Elegante gets some subtle cosmetic changes to distinguish it from other Vespa models. There is a new chrome grill at the front, colour coordinated leather finished twin seats, all-round chrome guard kit and front bumper guard and Elegante badge. The scooter also comes with colour coordinated limited edition helmets.

Mechanically, the Elegante is identical to the Vespa VX. It used the same 125cc, 3-valve engine that develops 10.06 PS @ 7500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of torque @ 6000 rpm and is mated to a CVT gearbox.

Piaggio has not yet announced prices for the Vespa Elegante.
