Turkey: Production-ready Fiat Aegea clicked

The Linea replacement, Fiat Aegea has finally been clicked on Fiat showroom floors in Turkey.

The Aegea project has witnessed a reportedly $1 billion investment, designed at the FCA Design Centre in Italy. Named after the Aegean Sea, this car is going to be produced in Turkey only and is likely to be exported to 40 countries across the globe. There will be a hatchback version of the sedan too which will be produced in a 1.2:1 (hatch:sedan) ratio. The Turkish facility in Bursa estimates to produce 1.28 million vehicles and ship out 7.9 lakh vehicles in eight years.

The car's exterior design looks very European with its Elite i20-like headlamps connecting its front grill. The grill has chrome lines all across with a thick chrome base. The fog lamp housing too gets some chrome inserts. The bonnet line is raised and its extended bonnet gives the car a muscle car-like appearance. It gets 17" alloy wheels, chrome door handles and a distinct waist line on the sides. At the rear it features C-shaped tail lamps.

There are two interior colour themes appearing on the cars caught by the spotter. The interiors are largely black with silver inserts. However, the seat colour is grey-beige or black-grey. It features an 5" infotainment screen with navigation, multi-function steering wheel and climate control among other features.

Engine options for the Aegea include two Multijet II turbo diesel and two petrol units, with manual or automatic transmission. These engines come with power ratings of between 94 and 118 BHP. Fiat claims that the diesel engines are capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of over 25 kpl.

The car is likely to be launched by the end of this year. Whether or not it will make it to India, still remains a question mark.
