According to a media report, Toyota is likely to launch its version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza only after 2020.
The re-badged version of the Vitara Brezza is likely to feature minor exterior and interior tweaks. Reports suggest that it could be powered by Maruti's new BS-VI ready 1.5-litre diesel engine. Currently, the car is powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm, while transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.
Toyota and Suzuki have signed a model sharing agreement which gives both brands access to each other's products. As part of this deal, Toyota will be launching re-badged versions of the Baleno and Vitara Brezza in the Indian market. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a Corolla Altis-based sedan.
