Toyota-Suzuki partnership to work on green cars & safety

As a part of their partnership that was announced in October last year, Toyota and Suzuki have now signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to work in the field of green cars and vehicular safety. The companies will also be working together to develop common products and components.

The two companies had announced their partnership last year to cumulatively develop new technologies which can then be independently used by either of them in their production models. This was done to minimise research & development costs and offer final products at competitive prices. With the automotive industry standing at the junction of a major change in the future, thanks to the advent of alternative energy sources and self-driving cars, various global automakers have formed partnerships in order to develop new technologies under mutual investment.

The MoU signed by both companies will mark the start of their business partnership. The two companies will now be setting up an implementation framework which will guide them towards their goals of mutually building new technologies.
