Toyota Innova Crysta petrol spotted at dealer stockyard

The upcoming Toyota Innova Crysta petrol has been spotted at a dealer stockyard. Toyota is rumoured to be gearing up to launch the MPV next week. Recent media reports have suggested that Toyota dealers across the country have already started accepting bookings for the car.

The Toyota Innova Crysta was launched in India in May 2016 with two diesel engine options - a 2.4-litre unit that churns out 148 BHP, and a 2.8-litre mill rated at 172 BHP. This meant that the Innova Crysta could not be sold in the Delhi-NCR region, owing to the Supreme Court's ban on registration of diesel cars with engines larger than 2,000 cc. Moreover, the declining fuel price gap between petrol and diesel has resulted in a shift in Indian customer preferences towards petrol cars.

This has prompted Toyota to launch a petrol variant for the Innova Crysta. Earlier reports have confirmed that the petrol Crysta will be powered by a 2.7-litre, four-cylinder, dual VVT-i engine. It will be available with a 6-speed manual as well as automatic option. This powerplant is expected to develop around 162 BHP and 245 Nm of torque.
