The engine variants of the upcoming Toyota Innova Crysta have been disclosed. The three variants will be similar to those of the old Innova - GX, VX and ZX.

Toyota will bring in its 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV diesel engines to replace the older 2KD-FTV unit. This batch of new engines are claimed to produce greater torque, lesser NOx emissions, and offer better fuel efficiency than the outgoing power plant. These engines use common rail and 16-valve DOHC technology and comply with Euro-5 emission norms.

The 1GD-FTV is a 2,755cc, 4-cylinder engine that produces 174 BHP and 360 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will be available in the GX and ZX variants of the Innova Crysta. The 2GD-FTV is a 2,393cc, 4-cylinder unit that develops 148 BHP and 343 Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and will be available in the GX and VX variants. It is unclear whether or not an automatic transmission will be available with the 2.4-litre engine.

The GX variant gets a low NVH package, while the VX and the ZX variants get a high NVH package, which is expected to lower noise and vibration.

The Innova Crytsa is expected to be launched in India in May 2016.
