Toyota Hilux Rangga SUV to be launched in Indonesia

The Rangga SUV is mechanically identical to the Hilux Rangga pickup.

Toyota Motors Indonesia unveiled the Hilux Rangga SUV concept a few months back. The SUV is based on the Hilux Rangga pickup.

Now, Toyota has confirmed that the Hilux Rangga SUV will go into production soon, while its sales are expected to begin sometime next year. Although the Hilux Rangga SUV comes with a bodyshell made by an aftermarket coach builder - the final product will be sold officially by Toyota.

The Toyota Hilux Rangga SUV is based on the brand's IMV platform, which also underpins the likes of the Innova Crysta & Fortuner. It comes with a rudimentary design featuring conventional doors at the rear.

Inside, the Rangga SUV will get a three-row-7-seater configuration as standard, with multiple seating options on offer. Other features include air-conditioning, dual-front airbags and a touchscreen infotainment.

The Rangga SUV is mechanically identical to the Rangga pickup. The SUV will be powered by 2.0-litre NA petrol and 2.4-litre turbo diesel engines, both sending power to the rear wheels. The engines will be paired either with a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
