Toyota has started accepting pre-bookings for the Hilux in India. Prices will be announced in March 2022.
The Hilux badge has been around since 1968 and is now in its 8th generation. It shares its underpinnings with the Innova and Fortuner.
On the outside, the Hilux features a bold front end with a large hexagonal grille that has a chrome surround. The front bumper has an integrated skid plate and L-shaped fog lamp pods.
Inside, the Hilux comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats with leather upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control, among other features.
In India, the Hilux is offered with a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 201 BHP (204 BHP - 6MT) and 500 Nm (420 Nm - 6MT). The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota has confirmed that the Hilux will come with a four-wheel-drive system with an electronic differential lock and a limited-slip differential. It also gets Active Traction Control.
The Hilux has received a 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP. It will compete with the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the Indian market.
