Tokyo Motor Show: Datsun Go-cross concept unveiled

Datsun has unveiled the Datsun Go-cross concept at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show.

The Go-cross shares its platform with the Go+ MPV. It looks more rugged thanks to cosmetic enhancements. These include an imposing hexagonal grille, restyled headlamps, a redesigned front bumper with round fog lamps and LED lamps, a black roof, roof rails, a roof mounted rear spoiler and a reworked rear bumper. The car has a plastic cladding on its sides and there are silver skid plates on the bumpers and sides. The door mirrors are finished in silver as well. Additionally, the Go-cross gets black alloy wheels and higher ground clearance.

Datsun has not revealed any details of the interiors or the powertrains that could be used in the Go-cross.

Datsun announced its return as a car manufacturer in 2012, after a dormancy of nearly three decades. Its first cars went on sale in India in March 2014. Since then, it has sold more than 1,00,000 vehicles. Its markets include India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.

At present, the company sells two models - Go and Go+. It is planning to launch a third model in India at the beginning of 2016. It will based on the new Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF-A architecture.
