Test drove the Honda Elevate: Here's how it compares with my Jazz

Finding a comfortable seating position was cakewalk. Coming from Jazz it felt like a very familiar place to be in

BHPian SoumenD recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Was in my SVC today to get my car serviced and took a test drive of the Elevate ZX CVT. As a Jazz owner who is very happy with Honda experience overall, Elevate/City does seem like a logical upgrade.

Here are my observations. Mostly in comparison to the Jazz CVT:

  • Firstly the ride quality is superb. The bad patches on Bangalore roads were felt way lesser than my Jazz.
  • Tall bonnet coupled with the lane watch camera makes driving in city traffic that much easier. A boon when two wheelers are obsessed with left side overtaking
  • Engine while not too explosive was adequate for city driving. Didn’t feel too underpowered at all atleast till 80-90(got onto highway for a short while). Honda has tuned the CVT box pretty well for the 1.5 iVtec. Lag felt lesser than I expected.
  • Finding a comfortable seating position was cakewalk. Coming from Jazz it felt like a very familiar place to be in although some things were different (starter button, AC controls, toggle switches). Legroom at the back as well felt great.
  • Has all the features I would ever want in my car. Thankfully the emergency braking can be turned off (I did that first thing before starting the test drive).
  • Spacewise doesn’t feel like much of an upgrade over my current car. City feels roomier although I guess it’s more to do with the hump in the middle of rear seat.
  • Plastic quality again didn’t feel much better than my current car.
  • Sunroof is a joke. They could have either given a panoramic sunroof or kept this contraption optional.
  • Huge Front bonnet makes it look narrower than it actually is(refer the last picture).

Had this been available back in 2019, would have been my pick for sure. For 20L OTR seems decent VFM compared to competition.
