Tesla Cybertruck might already have 2 million reservations

The reservation tally also shows that more customers are interested in the dual and tri-motor versions of the Cybertruck.

According to a media report, Tesla might already have garnered over 2 million reservations for its much-awaited Cybertruck ahead of launch.

The Tesla Cybertruck had its world premiere in 2019, and within a week of its unveiling, company CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the electric pickup had already garnered 2,50,000 reservations. Reports suggest that interest towards the Cybertruck was intact even during the pandemic, with Tesla stores said to be getting hundreds of reservations per week.

In 2021, a crowd-sourced reservation tally for the Tesla Cybertruck put its pre-order numbers at 1 million units. Now, two years later, it shows that the Cybertruck reservation numbers have crossed 2 million units.

A $100 refundable deposit to "reserve" the Cybertruck though doesn't guarantee a sale. However, reports state that even a 20% take rate could make the Tesla Cybertruck the best-selling pickup truck in the world.

The reservation tally also shows that more customers are interested in the dual and tri-motor versions of the Cybertruck. Reports also find it interesting that the reservations are being made without Tesla even having confirmed the price or configuration of the Cybertruck yet.
