Tata Punch unveiled; bookings open

The Tata Punch is available in four variants - Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. It competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the likes.

Tata Motors has finally taken the wraps off the Punch crossover. Customers can book the car online or at any authorized dealership across India for Rs. 21,000. The car is available in four variants - Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.

The Tata Punch is based on the Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) Architecture. The sub-4 meter crossover has a ground clearance of 187 mm (unladen) and has a wading depth of 370 mm.

The Punch features a Harrier-like front fascia, with a split grille and slim LED daytime running lights. The main headlamp clusters are positioned in separate pods on the bumper. Black cladding along the sides and wheel arches adds to the rugged look. The car rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The car comes with a dual-tone interior, featuring colour-matched inserts around the air-conditioner vents. It has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine featuring an automatic engine start / stop function, as well as two drive modes - City and Eco. The engine puts out 85 BHP and 113 Nm and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. The latter comes with a traction mode that is said to aid handling in slippery conditions.

The Tata Punch is available in seven colour options. Customers can also choose from two customization packs - Rhythm and Dazzle.
