Tata Motors has launched the Nexon in XZ trim. The new variant slots in between the XT and top-spec XZ+ and is available in both petrol and diesel versions. The XZ petrol is priced at Rs. 7.99 lakh, while the diesel costs Rs. 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
On the outside, the Nexon XZ gets projector headlights sans the LED DRLs, electric foldable ORVMs, rear parking sensors and reverse camera and 16-inch steel wheels with dual-tone wheel caps. It does not get features like dual-tone roof, alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, front and rear fog lamps and defogger that are available on the XZ+ trim.
Inside, the XZ variant comes with a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-speaker audio system from Harman. The head unit is compatible with Android Auto. It can be operated via voice commands and can read and reply to WhatsApp messages as well. Besides, this variant gets automatic climate control with rear vents, cooled glove box and a USB fast charger. It has a height adjustable driver seat and seat belts (front) but misses out on the 60:40 split folding rear seat as well as front and rear arm rests. That said, safety features like ABS with EBD and dual airbags are standard across all variants of the Nexon.
The Nexon XZ petrol is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 108 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 170 Nm @ 1,750 - 4,000 rpm. The diesel version comes equipped with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 108 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1,500 - 2,750 rpm. A 6-speed manual transmission and 3 driving modes - Eco, City and Sport are standard.
