The Tata Nexon compact crossover is set to debut this festive season. Tata Motors has now revealed details of the engines that will power the vehicle. These include a new 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel unit.
The 1,198cc turbocharged Revotron petrol motor uses a 3-cylinder block and produces a peak output of 108 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 170 Nm @ 2,000-4,000 rpm.
The 1,496cc, 4-cylinder Revotorq diesel unit makes 108 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 260 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. Both engines will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Tata claims that the Nexon will be the first car in its segment to offer three driving modes - Eco, City and Sport. The Revotron engine will be manufactured in Sanand, Gujarat, while the Ranjangaon factory near Pune will build the new diesel engine.
