In addition to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, Tata Motors' product portfolio also includes electric vehicles (EV). In FY2022, the carmaker plans to enter the CNG passenger vehicle segment.
Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, has stated that factory-fitted CNG kits will be introduced on some models in the current fiscal.
CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor have already been spotted testing. Both cars are expected to come with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The engine produces 85 BHP and 113 Nm. However, the peak output is expected to drop slightly when running on CNG. The CNG variants are likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.
At present, Tata offers customers the option to get CNG kits fitted at the dealership.
