A Tata loyalist buys the 2023 Harrier in Coral Red: His impressions

The disadvantage that Kia had was we saw the Seltos after seeing the Harrier, and the family simply did not like the build quality, the sound system and the interiors.

My Coral Red Fearless+ New Harrier

The New Harrier, all I can say is "It's an Emotion".

Why Harrier?

Our family has been a Tata Fanboy since more than a decade. This is our 5th Tata car in the last decade. Since the concept launch during the auto show to the actual production, I wanted the Harrier. So much so that for entire 2022-2023, my laptop password was a combination of Harrier .

2019 when the Harrier launched, I saw it at T2 Mumbai. Was in awe of the beauty, however appalled by the 140BHP engine. The wait started for the 170BHP engine. Well the 170BHP launched, but by then the XUV with the ADAS functions too was launched. During this time, I drove multiple cars in US and EU with Adaptive Cruise and was sure that sooner than later, Tata will up it's game. 2022, the Harrier with ADAS was launched, however without Adaptive Cruise Control. The wait again started.

Since 2020 March, I've been blessed to be working from home and therefore apart from the family road trips, the daily runabouts are non-existent. In 2022 July, we moved to Ooty as wife got an offer as a residential head of school. My weekly running was not even 50kms during the entire period from July 2022-May 2023. In May 2023, we moved back to mainland, however my running was still negligible. Therefore, the need for a new car was not very strong, however I almost finalized the Q3 in October due to some mouthwatering discounts.

September 2023 the new Harrier is launched. Its instantly liked by everyone in the house. However, I pass it off with where is the need. All this while, my trusty Brezza continues to serve without any issues. Come November, I test drive the Harrier, and book it on Gurupurab. Put up an ad on OLX for the Brezza along with Cars24. The offer from Cars24 is pathetic. An independent offer on Olx is great and the Brezza is gone in 2 days.

The initial waiting time committed by the showroom was 4-6 weeks. My wife's birthday is on 25th December and the showroom did keep it's promise. We took the delivery of our Coral Red Fearless+ Harrier on Christmas day.

Ran the entire PDI checklist and apart from one tail-light being misaligned, the car which was a 15th December manufacture, was in perfect shape. All electronics ran as prescribed. No-nonsense delivery. No cake, but a song and ribbon cutting ceremony. Took sometime for paperwork as this was the 1st car to be delivered as BH for the showroom. Some images from the delivery day

2016, the Brezza was bought on his birthday in October

And here he is today

Going by past experience for a Red car, I wanted to get PPF done. Initially had planned to get it done by Brotomotive in Pune, however seeing my calendar for the month of Dec and Jan, I had to take a call and got it done at 3M@Hyderabad. Here are some pics after the PPF. They seem to have done a good job. A visit post 10 days of application is pending since I was travelling. They have given a 7 year warranty on the PPF.
