Tata Kite test mules involved in accident

Test mules of the Tata Kite hatchback have been spotted once again on the Pune - Bangalore highway. According to the spotter, there were two test mule that were seen together and both were involved in an accident. While one of the cars escaped with scratches, the other one was heavily damaged.

Both the cars were reported to be travelling at speeds of 60-80 kph on the highway and took a diversion at a construction zone. At that point, a truck rammed into them. The impact was so hard that one of the cars had its front wheel sheared off the axle. The second car escaped with minor damage as it had time to brake. The good news is that the drivers and crew escaped unharmed.

The Kite is expected to be manufactured at Tata Motors' Sanand plant. There are rumours that it will be called the Glade when it is launched. It is likely to be powered by a 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder, common rail diesel engine, which will put out 64 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The car is also expected to be available with a 1.2-litre, 75 BHP, petrol engine. LPG, CNG and AMT or e-clutch-equipped variants are expected as well. The vehicle is likely to share a lot of parts with the Zest and Bolt to keep costs down.
