Tata Motors has released a video that provides details of the platform that underpins the upcoming Altroz. The hatchback will be the first car to be based on this new architecture which is called the Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced (ALFA) platform.
Tata claims that the scalable ALFA platform has been designed to accommodate various body styles including hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs and compact SUVs. It offers a flat floor that is claimed to maximize leg room. It is said to offer ample luggage space and storage space around the driver. The upcoming Blackbird SUV and Hornbill micro-SUV will also be based on this platform.
The ALFA platform is claimed to support multiple powertrains. In addition to conventional petrol and diesel engines, it can also accommodate hybrid and electric powertrains.
Tata Motors is scheduled to unveil the Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
